Brands

Overview

Brands are the candidate-facing identity assigned to Positions in Leadline. They define the name and icon candidates see when interacting with a Position — on Landing Pages, in communications, and across the application experience. Every Position must have exactly one Brand assigned at all times.

→ See 111 - Positions for more information on how Brands are assigned to Positions.

→ See 102 - Admin-Hub for more information on how Brands are configured in the Admin Hub.

What are Brands and Why Do They Exist?

Brands are the candidate-facing identity assigned to each Position. They exist to give organizations with multiple divisions, subsidiaries, or employer identities the ability to present the right name and branding to candidates for each Position — without changing the Organization name at the account level.

Brands also exist to meet the requirements of Leadline's Indeed API integration, which requires a clear distinction between the Employer Name (the Organization) and the Brand presented on each job posting.

→ See 108 - Job-Board-Integrations for more information on the Indeed API integration and its requirements.

What is the Difference Between an Organization and a Brand?

These are two distinct concepts in Leadline:

Organization — the legal employer and account owner in Leadline. The Organization name is configured in the Admin Hub and is used by the {{Organization Name}} Smartline in communications.

Brand — the candidate-facing identity assigned to individual Positions. The Brand name and icon are what candidates see when they interact with a Position. An Organization can have one or more Brands.

→ See 123 - Smartlines for more information on the {{Organization Name}} and {{Brand Name}} Smartlines and how they differ.

What Information Makes Up a Brand?

Each Brand consists of two configurable fields:

  • Brand Name — the name displayed to candidates on Landing Pages and in communications
  • Brand Icon — the icon or logo associated with the Brand, used as the default OG Metadata image on Landing Pages assigned to Positions using this Brand

→ See 109 - Pages for more information on how the Brand Icon is used in Landing Page OG Metadata.

What is a Brand Icon?

A Brand Icon is the logo or image associated with a Brand. It serves as the default OG Metadata image for Landing Pages assigned to Positions that use this Brand. When a Channel Tracking Link is shared on social media or via messaging platforms, the Brand Icon is what appears in the link preview card.

→ See 109 - Pages for more information on OG Metadata and how it is used on Landing Pages.

What is the Relationship Between Brands and Indeed?

Brands were introduced in part to meet Indeed's API requirements, which require a clear distinction between the Employer Name and the brand presented on each job posting. By introducing Brands as a first-class concept in Leadline, Positions can be submitted to Indeed with the correct Brand context — improving posting eligibility and ensuring compliance with Indeed's data requirements.

→ See 108 - Job-Board-Integrations for more information on the Indeed integration and position eligibility requirements.

Who Configures Brands?

Only Company Administrators can create, edit, disable, and delete Brands. Brand configuration is managed in the Admin Hub.

→ See 124 - User-Roles for more information on Company Administrator access.

Where are Brands Configured?

Brands are configured in the Admin Hub > Organization Information > Brands section.

→ See 101 - Platform-Links for the direct link to the Admin Hub. → See 102 - Admin-Hub for more information on the Admin Hub and the Organization Information tab.

Does Every Position Require a Brand?

Yes. Every Position must have exactly one Brand assigned at all times. A Position cannot be created or saved without a Brand assigned.

Can a Position Have More Than One Brand?

No. Only one Brand can be assigned to a Position at a time. The assigned Brand can be changed at any time by editing the Position Details.

→ See 416 - Assign-Brand for instructions on assigning or changing the Brand on a Position.

What is a Default Brand?

The Default Brand is the Brand that is automatically assigned to all new Positions at the time of creation. One Brand must always be set as the Default. Users can change the assigned Brand during or after Position creation at any time.

→ See 2306 - Set-Default-Brand for instructions on setting a Brand as the Default.

What Happens if an Organization Only Has One Brand?

If an organization only has one Brand, that Brand is automatically assigned to all Positions. It cannot be deleted or disabled — it will always remain active and will always be the Default Brand.

Is There a Limit to How Many Brands an Organization Can Have?

Yes. The number of Brands permitted per organization is controlled by Leadline based on the organization's plan. Organizations created after the Brands feature was released are permitted one Brand by default. If your organization requires additional Brands, contact your Leadline Customer Success representative to upgrade.

Note: When an organization reaches its Brand limit, an alert will appear in the Admin Hub with an option to upgrade.

How are Brands Sorted in the Selection Dropdown?

Brands are sorted alphabetically in the Brand selection dropdown when assigning a Brand to a Position. The Default Brand is automatically pre-selected when creating a new Position.

Can a Brand Be Renamed?

Yes. A Brand's name and icon can be updated at any time by a Company Administrator.

→ See 2302 - Edit-Brand for instructions on renaming a Brand or updating a Brand Icon.

Can a Brand Be Disabled?

Yes. Disabling a Brand hides it from the Brand selection dropdown when creating or editing Positions. A disabled Brand remains assigned to any Positions it was previously associated with — disabling does not remove it from those Positions.

→ See 2303 - Disable-Brand for instructions on disabling a Brand.

Can a Brand Be Deleted?

Yes — but only after all Positions currently assigned to that Brand have been reassigned to a different Brand. A Brand cannot be deleted while it is assigned to any active Positions.

→ See 2305 - Delete-Brand for instructions on deleting a Brand.

How do I View All Positions Assigned to a Brand?

→ See 2307 - View-Positions-By-Brand for instructions on viewing Positions by Brand.

How do Brands Affect the Candidate Experience?

Candidates see the Brand name and icon — not the Organization name — when interacting with a Position. This applies to:

  • Landing Pages — the Brand name and icon are used in the page content and OG Metadata
  • Communications — the {{Brand Name}} Smartline populates messages with the Brand name assigned to the Position being referenced
  • Indeed Job Postings — the Brand is submitted to Indeed as the employer identity for each Position

→ See 109 - Pages for more information on how Brands appear on Landing Pages.

→ See 123 - Smartlines for more information on the {{Brand Name}} Smartline.

→ See 107 - Communications for more information on how Brands are used in candidate communications.

What Happened to Existing Positions When Brands Were Released?

When the Brands feature was released, all existing Positions were automatically migrated. Each Position's existing "Employer Name" value was converted into a Brand and assigned back to that Position. Positions that shared the same Employer Name were consolidated under the same Brand — no manual reconfiguration was required.

Existing organizations were given a default Brand limit of 30 at the time of migration to accommodate the variety of Employer Names that may have existed across their Positions.
