ZipRecruiter Integration
Overview
The ZipRecruiter Integration connects Leadline to ZipRecruiter via an XML job feed — allowing Positions published in Leadline to automatically appear on ZipRecruiter. Like the LinkedIn Recruiter Integration, this feed-based connection syncs on a scheduled cadence rather than in real-time.
→ See 108 - Job-Board-Integrations for full product knowledge on Job Board Integrations and the difference between API and XML integrations.
What is the ZipRecruiter Integration?
The ZipRecruiter Integration is an XML feed-based connection between Leadline and ZipRecruiter that allows Positions published in Leadline to automatically appear on ZipRecruiter. Leadline hosts a job feed file that ZipRecruiter crawls on a scheduled cadence — when ZipRecruiter reads the feed, it picks up new jobs and updates to existing ones.
Why Does the ZipRecruiter Integration Exist?
The ZipRecruiter Integration exists so that organizations using Leadline can manage their ZipRecruiter job postings directly from Leadline — without having to manually create or update job postings on ZipRecruiter separately. Leadline acts as the single source of truth — publish a Position once in Leadline and it will appear on ZipRecruiter automatically on the next sync.
→ See 108 - Job-Board-Integrations for more information on why Job Board Integrations exist.
Is the ZipRecruiter Integration a Premium Feature?
Yes. The ZipRecruiter Integration is a premium feature available on the Leadline Professional Plan or higher. Contact your Customer Success representative to gain access by upgrading your plan.
Who Can Configure the ZipRecruiter Integration?
Users with the appropriate Job Board Integration permissions can configure the ZipRecruiter Integration. This is not limited to Company Administrators — non-admin users can be granted access by a Company Administrator if desired.
→ See 125 - User-Permissions for more information on Job Board Integration permissions.
Where is the ZipRecruiter Integration Configured?
The ZipRecruiter Integration is configured in the Job Board Integrations section of the platform.
→ See 101 - Platform-Links for the direct link to the Job Board Integrations page.
→ See 102 - Admin-Hub for more information on Job Board Integration configuration in the Admin Hub.
How Do I Set Up the ZipRecruiter Integration in Leadline?
→ See 2001 - Set-Up-ZipRecruiter-Integration for instructions on setting up and configuring the ZipRecruiter Integration.
Can You Temporarily Disable or Re-Enable the ZipRecruiter Feed?
Yes. The ZipRecruiter feed can be temporarily disabled at any time — for example, if you need to pause job postings without fully removing the integration. The feed can be re-enabled whenever you are ready to resume syncing Positions to ZipRecruiter.
→ See 2002 - Enable-ZipRecruiter-Integration for instructions on re-enabling the ZipRecruiter feed.
→ See 2003 - Disable-ZipRecruiter-Integration for instructions on temporarily disabling the ZipRecruiter feed.
How Does the ZipRecruiter Job Feed Work?
The ZipRecruiter Integration works through a hosted XML job feed — a file that acts as a source of truth for all your active Positions in Leadline. The process works in two parallel steps:
- Leadline writes updates to the feed — every few hours, Leadline updates the XML feed file based on your team's activity in Leadline. New positions, updates to existing positions, and closed positions are all reflected in the file.
- ZipRecruiter crawls the feed — every few hours, ZipRecruiter reads the XML feed file and pulls the latest job data into your ZipRecruiter account.
This two-step cycle is how Leadline communicates new jobs and updates to existing jobs to ZipRecruiter.
You can view when these sync activities happen by clicking the "View Activity Log" option in the Job Board Integrations page — the same location where your XML Feed URL is found.
→ See 2005 - View-ZipRecruiter-Sync-Activity-Log for instructions on viewing the ZipRecruiter sync activity log.
How Long Until a Position Published in Leadline Shows Up on ZipRecruiter?
ZipRecruiter syncs job data from Leadline every 6 hours (4 times per day). This cadence is a limitation imposed by ZipRecruiter on all Applicant Tracking System partners — it is not something Leadline can adjust. Allow up to 12 hours after publishing a Position in Leadline before expecting it to appear on ZipRecruiter.
Can I Control Which Jobs are Posted to ZipRecruiter?
Yes. You can select which Positions from Leadline are sent to the ZipRecruiter feed using the Configure Jobs action within the Job Board Integrations page. Only Positions you have configured to be included will appear on ZipRecruiter.
Note: Per ZipRecruiter's feed requirements, the feed must always contain all currently open and configured Positions — not just new ones added since the last sync. Jobs not included in the feed will be removed from ZipRecruiter automatically on the next crawl.
→ See 2004 - Configure-ZipRecruiter-Integration-Positions for instructions on configuring which Positions are included in the ZipRecruiter feed.
What Position Fields are Required for a Job to Post to ZipRecruiter?
The following fields must be configured on a Position before it is eligible to appear in the ZipRecruiter feed:
- Position Name — the job title displayed on ZipRecruiter
- Job Description — the full job description shown to candidates
- Brand — used as the employer/company identity for the posting
- Location — the job location, including country and either city/state or postal code
→ See 111 - Positions for more information on Position Details and required fields.
→ See 132 - Brands for more information on how Brands serve as the employer identity for job postings.
Do Positions Need an Assigned Landing Page to Post to ZipRecruiter?
Yes. To ensure a consistent candidate experience across all job boards, Positions must have their Landing Page option set to "Landing Page" with a Landing Page assigned before they will be successfully posted to ZipRecruiter. The Post-Submission experience can be configured to any option.
→ See 502 - Assign-Landing-Page for instructions on assigning a Landing Page to a Position.
→ See 109 - Pages for more information on Landing Page assignment options for Positions.
What Happens to a Position on ZipRecruiter When it is Closed or Unpublished in Leadline?
When a Position is closed or unpublished in Leadline, it is removed from the XML job feed. The Position will be removed from ZipRecruiter on the next scheduled feed crawl — this may take up to 6 hours to reflect on ZipRecruiter.
Note: ZipRecruiter removes jobs that are absent from the feed automatically on the next crawl. You do not need to take any additional action on the ZipRecruiter side.
→ See 404 - Close-Position for instructions on closing a Position in Leadline.
→ See 406 - Unpublish-Position for instructions on unpublishing a Position in Leadline.
Can I Use ZipRecruiter's Paid Job Listings Alongside the Integration?
Yes. The ZipRecruiter Integration does not replace or affect your existing contract relationship with ZipRecruiter. Jobs synced from Leadline will appear in your ZipRecruiter dashboard — from there, you can choose to add budget to any of those jobs to promote them as paid listings through ZipRecruiter's standard workflow. The two work independently of each other.
Can I Update a Position After it Has Been Posted to ZipRecruiter?
Yes. When you make changes to a Position in Leadline that is already posted to ZipRecruiter, those changes will be reflected on ZipRecruiter on the next scheduled feed crawl — up to 6 hours later.
Note: If changes are also made manually on the ZipRecruiter website, they will be overwritten the next time the feed is crawled and updated.
Are ZipRecruiter Applications Tracked by Channel Tracking Link?
Yes. All Submissions generated through ZipRecruiter are automatically credited to the "ZipRecruiter" Channel Tracking Link in Leadline's reporting.
→ See 106 - Channel-Tracking-Links for more information on Channel Tracking Links and how they attribute Submissions in reporting.
How Do ZipRecruiter Applications Appear in Leadline?
ZipRecruiter applications appear in Leadline the same way all other applications do — as Submissions accessible via the Submission Drawer within the Position they applied to.
→ See 701 - View-Submission for instructions on viewing Submissions in Leadline.
What Happens if a Position Fails to Appear on ZipRecruiter?
If a Position does not appear on ZipRecruiter after 12 hours, first check that the Position has been configured to be included in the ZipRecruiter feed and that all required fields are populated. Common reasons a job may not post to ZipRecruiter include:
- Missing or invalid required fields
- The reference number exceeding 64 characters
- Duplicate listings with the same location — ZipRecruiter filters these automatically and removes the old listing
If the Position is configured correctly and still does not appear, check the activity log to see whether the feed has synced successfully.
→ See 2005 - View-ZipRecruiter-Sync-Activity-Log for instructions on viewing the ZipRecruiter sync activity log.
→ See 2004 - Configure-ZipRecruiter-Integration-Positions for instructions on confirming a Position is included in the ZipRecruiter feed.
Are There Rate Limits for the ZipRecruiter Integration?
ZipRecruiter controls the rate at which the job feed is crawled — this is a ZipRecruiter-imposed limitation and is not something Leadline can adjust. ZipRecruiter crawls the feed 4 times daily at 2 AM, 8 AM, 2 PM, and 8 PM Pacific time, meaning changes to Positions in Leadline will not be reflected on ZipRecruiter until the next scheduled crawl. Updates can take up to 24-48 hours to reach ZipRecruiter's job board partners.
