Overview
Search Tags are keywords assigned to Positions that help candidates find relevant roles when searching within the Website Widget. They are external-facing and candidate-driven — distinct from Position Tags which are internal and used for organizational reporting.
Note: Search Tags are exclusively used within the Website Widget. If your organization does not have the Website Widget visible to candidates, Search Tags will have no effect on candidate-facing experiences.

What are Search Tags?
Search Tags are keywords that can be assigned to Positions to help candidates find them when searching within an organization's Website Widget. When a candidate types a keyword into the Website Widget search bar, Positions that have a matching Search Tag assigned will appear in the results.
Why Do Search Tags Exist?
Search Tags exist so that Positions can be easily discovered by candidates who may refer to a role by a different name than the official Position title. For example, if a school district is hiring across multiple teaching departments — English Educator, Spanish Educator, Science Educator — assigning the Search Tag "Teacher" to each Position ensures that when a candidate types "Teacher" in the Website Widget search bar, all teaching and educator Positions are returned in the results regardless of their individual titles.
Are Search Tags Visible to Candidates?
Search Tags are not directly visible to candidates — they do not appear on the Landing Page or anywhere in the application experience. However, candidates interact with them indirectly when they search for positions using the Website Widget search bar.
Who Creates Search Tags?
Search Tags are created by users with the appropriate permissions.

Where are Search Tags Configured?
Search Tags are configured in the Settings tab within the Position Details editor of a Position.

When are Search Tags Created and Is There a Limit?
Search Tags can be created and assigned to Positions at any time. There are no default Search Tags — all Search Tags must be created manually. There is no limit to the number of Search Tags that can be created or assigned to a Position.
What is the Difference Between Search Tags and Position Tags?
Search Tags and Position Tags serve completely different purposes:
- Search Tags — external facing. Used by candidates to find Positions when searching within the Website Widget. Not visible to Leadline users in reporting.
- Position Tags — internal facing. Used by Leadline users to organize, filter, and report on Positions. Never visible to candidates.

Do Search Tags Affect Reporting?
No. Search Tags do not affect reporting. They exist solely to improve candidate discoverability within the Website Widget.

What Happens to a Position if a Search Tag is Deleted?
If a Search Tag is deleted from a Position, the Position will no longer appear in Website Widget search results for that keyword. The Position itself remains intact — only its discoverability for that specific search term is affected.
