Lead Scores

Overview

This document covers everything you need to know about Lead Scores in Leadline — how they are created, how they are calculated, where they are displayed, and how they are used to evaluate candidates.

Lead Scores are generated by Submissions. When a candidate submits their Application Form, Leadline compares the candidate's responses to the preferred answers configured on the Application Form and produces a Lead Score. Lead Scores are displayed as a percentage — representing how strong of a fit the candidate is for the Position on a range from 0% to 100%.

How is a Lead Score Created and Calculated?

Lead Scores are created automatically by the system at the moment a candidate submits their Application Form responses — no manual input is required.

The system calculates the Lead Score by comparing the candidate's responses against the preferred answers configured on the Application Form by the user who built the form. The result is expressed as a percentage from 0% to 100% representing how strong of a fit the candidate is for the Position.

By default, all questions contribute equally to the Lead Score. Questions marked as Weightless are excluded from the calculation entirely — the candidate is neither rewarded nor penalized for their response to a Weightless question.

What is the Lead Score Range?

Lead Scores range from 0% to 100%. Incomplete Submissions are excluded from this range and are displayed as "Incomplete/Missing" in the UI rather than a numerical score.

What is the Difference Between a Lead Score of 0% and an Incomplete/Missing Lead Score?

These are two distinct states:

Lead Score of 0% — the candidate submitted the entire Application Form but none of their responses met the preferred answer criteria configured by the employer. A Lead Score of 0% was generated because a Submission was completed.

Incomplete/Missing Lead Score — the candidate began the application process but never submitted their Application Form responses. A Lead Score could not be generated because no responses were submitted.

Can Lead Scores be Generated for Incomplete Submissions?

No. Lead Scores are not calculated for Incomplete Submissions. Incomplete Submissions display as "Incomplete/Missing" in the UI until the Submission is completed and responses are submitted.

Can a Lead Score be Manually Updated?

No. Once a Lead Score is calculated it cannot be changed manually. Lead Scores are fixed at the moment the Submission is created.

Can a Lead Score Change After it is Generated?

No. Lead Scores are fixed at the moment the candidate submits their Application Form responses and are tied to the version of the Application Form that was active at that time. Future changes to the Application Form, including publishing a new version, have no effect on Lead Scores that have already been generated.

Why Do Lead Scores Exist?

Lead Scores exist to help users quickly analyze candidates and identify the best fits for the roles they are trying to fill. They provide a quick, objective signal into a candidate's ability to satisfy the requirements of a Position without requiring the user to manually review every Submission individually.

Where are Lead Scores Displayed?

Lead Scores are displayed in the following locations:

Desktop — Kanban View Displayed on the Submission card above the quick action buttons.

Desktop — List View Displayed in the second column of the table.

Desktop — Submission Drawer (Metadata) Displayed within the candidate metadata directly below the candidate's name, labeled as "Lead Score."

Desktop — Submission Drawer (Submission Response Tab) Displayed within the All Responses section of the Submission Response tab, showing a breakdown of how the Lead Score was calculated.

Desktop — Submission Drawer (All Applications Tab) Displayed across all Positions the candidate has applied to — useful for comparing a candidate's fit across multiple roles.

Mobile — Submissions View Displayed on the right-hand side next to the candidate's name when viewing all Submissions for a Position.

Mobile — Submission Drawer (Metadata) Displayed within the candidate metadata directly below the candidate's name, labeled as "Lead Score."

How Do Lead Scores Affect Candidate Ranking and Sorting?

Lead Scores are used in the following ways to help users prioritize and evaluate candidates:

Sorting — Submissions can be sorted by Lead Score within the Kanban and List views on desktop
Filtering — Submissions can be filtered by Lead Score on both desktop and mobile
