Channel Tracking Links

Overview

Channel Tracking Links are the mechanism through which candidates access Positions and submit applications in Leadline. They enable hiring teams to source submissions across multiple channels while tracking candidate traffic and measuring channel performance through reporting.

→ See 111 - Positions for more information on Positions.

→ See 116 - Reporting for more information on how Channel Tracking Links affect reporting.

Channel Tracking Links are a series of unique URLs that lead candidates to the same application experience for a Position. By creating these links and distributing them across different sourcing channels, Leadline can track where candidate traffic is coming from and build reports on position and channel performance.

Channel Tracking Links are created by users who have access to the Position and the permission to create and remove Channel Tracking Links.

→ See 125 - User-Permissions for more information on the permissions required to create and remove Channel Tracking Links.

Channel Tracking Links exist to give hiring teams the ability to source candidates from multiple channels — such as job boards, social media, email campaigns, and in-person events — while maintaining the ability to track which channels are generating the best results. Without Channel Tracking Links, Leadline cannot attribute submissions to specific sourcing channels or build meaningful channel performance reports.

→ See 116 - Reporting for more information on channel performance reporting.

Five Channel Tracking Links are created automatically the first time a Position is published. Any additional Channel Tracking Links must be created manually by a user. Channel Tracking Links can be created at any time after a Position is published.

The following five Channel Tracking Links are created automatically the first time a Position is published:

  1. Company Website
  2. Twitter
  3. LinkedIn
  4. Facebook
  5. Email Campaign

Organic Post The link will be shared organically without any paid sponsorship. Recommended for organic social media posts and other sharing platforms.

Event The link will be used as a QR code for a scan-in experience. Recommended for in-person hiring events.

Paid Advertisement The link is being included in a paid advertisement or search result placement. Recommended for job boards or ad platforms. Ad spend can be entered in the Reporting page for performance tracking.

Referral Program A QR code will be created and uploaded to the lead referral tracking folder for this Position. If a large volume of QR codes is needed, a .csv file can be uploaded instead.

→ See 1201 - Create-Channel-Tracking-Link for instructions on creating Channel Tracking Links.

→ See 1203 - Create-Referral-Program for instructions on creating Referral Programs.

What are Referral Programs and How are They Different from Other Channel Tracking Link Types?

Referral Programs are a special type of Channel Tracking Link. When reporting on Channel Tracking Links, Referral Programs are treated as a single channel with sub-channel links — where each sub-channel link represents an individual referrer within the program. This allows users to report on which referrers are generating the best results and which are not, providing granular visibility into referral program performance.

→ See 1203 - Create-Referral-Program for instructions on creating Referral Programs.

→ See 1204 - Edit-Referrers-In-A-Referral-Program for instructions on editing referrers within a Referral Program.

→ See 116 - Reporting for more information on how Referral Programs are reported on.

Channel Tracking Links are configured in the Channel Tracking Links tab when viewing a Position.

→ See 101 - Platform-Links for the direct link to the Positions page.

→ See 1201 - Create-Channel-Tracking-Link for instructions on creating Channel Tracking Links.

→ See 1202 - Remove-Channel-Tracking-Link for instructions on removing Channel Tracking Links.

Channel Tracking Links are directly tied to reporting. Every Submission created through a Channel Tracking Link is attributed to that link in Leadline's reporting.

→ See 116 - Reporting for more information on channel performance reporting.

Yes. Every Channel Tracking Link comes with a corresponding QR code the moment it is created. The QR code and the Channel Tracking Link lead to the same candidate experience. The URL is best for digital distribution such as job boards, emails, and social media posts. The QR code is best for physical distribution such as flyers, signage, and in-person hiring events.

→ See 1205 - Download-QR-Code for instructions on downloading a QR code for a Channel Tracking Link.

When a candidate clicks a Channel Tracking Link, the Landing Page assigned to that Position is displayed and the candidate application experience begins.

→ See 109 - Pages for more information on Landing Pages and applicant experience.

→ See 502 - Assign-Landing-Page for instructions on assigning Landing Pages to Positions.

Yes. Individual Channel Tracking Links can be disabled without affecting the Position's status or other active links. This is the recommended approach when you want to stop the flow of applicants from a single channel without disabling all other links.

What happens when a candidate clicks a disabled Channel Tracking Link? The candidate application experience does not begin. The page displays the following message: "This position is not accepting applications currently. Check back later."

→ See 1207 - Enable-Channel-Tracking-Link for instructions on how to enable an existing Channel Tracking Link without creating a new one.

→ See 1206 - Disable-Channel-Tracking-Link for instructions on how to disable a Channel Tracking Link without deleting it.

No. Channel Tracking Links are unique to the Position they are configured for and cannot be shared across multiple Positions.

No. Channel Tracking Links do not expire. They remain active unless one of the following occurs:

  • The Position is marked as Unpublished — all Channel Tracking Links for that Position are disabled
  • The individual Channel Tracking Link is manually disabled

→ See 406 - Unpublish-Position for instructions on how to unpublish a Position.

→ See 1206 - Disable-Channel-Tracking-Link for instructions on how to disable an individual Channel Tracking Link.

If a Channel Tracking Link is deleted, all existing Submissions created through that link remain intact. However, the ability to attribute those Submissions to that specific sourcing channel is lost — deleted links can no longer be tracked in reporting.

→ See 116 - Reporting for more information on how Channel Tracking Links affect reporting.

No. Channel Tracking Link names are used by the system to group and compile reporting data on the backend. For example, even though the Indeed URL for two different Positions are different links, the system recognizes both as "Indeed" and compiles their reporting data into one line item depending on the report type. Renaming links would disrupt this grouping logic.

→ See 116 - Reporting for more information on how Channel Tracking Links are grouped in reporting.
